Threshold Defined

"The image of boundary between the ordinary world and the magically charged zone of trials into which the hero enters on his quest. The response to the Call to Adventure and the Crossing of the First Threshold, are major early episodes in the monomyth, and the hero's crossing the Return Threshold back to the world left behind, there to bestow his boon, concludes it."
